Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/ – The declaration of intent regarding the development of an intensified training framework for the creation of a joint unit between the Romanian Armed Forces and the National Army of Moldova (ANM) was signed today in Bucharest by the Defence Ministry, Eugen Sturza, and his Romanian counterpart, Gabriel Les.
The Chisinau Defence Ministry said in a press release that the document stipulates the continuation and strengthening of the training activities of some structures in the armies of both countries and the elaboration of a timetable for the preparation of an optimal interoperability level.
The same act stipulates the setting up of a working group to discuss organisational and operational aspects, as well as pulling efforts to identify opportunities for joint participation in UN peacekeeping or humanitarian missions.
The Ministry of National Defence in Bucharest said that "the document certifies the commitment of both parties to strengthening bilateral cooperation on the training of forces." The Romanian Minister stressed the increased importance given to this initiative, "which will have a positive impact on the increase of interoperability between the two armies."
The Declaration signed in Bucharest is based on the provisions of the Agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of Moldova on cooperation in the military field, signed in Chisinau on 20 April 2012.
