Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/ - A meeting of the Joint Control Commission, led by Moldova’s delegation, took place on 22 November, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has said.
In line with the agreements reached at the previous meeting and preliminarily accepted by representatives of Russia, Ukraine and OSCE, Moldova’s delegation resumed the subject on the approval of a new mechanism which would allow efficiently monitoring the Security Zone, in order to ensure the free movement.
It is worth mentioning that the present regulation creates impediments to military observers to carry out prompt interventions of documentation in the Security Zone, if infringements appear. A decision on the need to elaborate another document was taken by the Commission and recorded in a protocol signed back on 13 January 2017.
This time too, the concerned step was blocked by the Transnistrian side, which conditioned the consideration of the subject on the mechanism of monitoring the Security Zone on starting discussions on aspects regarding the penitentiary institutions placed in the Bender city, subordinated to the National Administration of Penitentiaries. These aspects are unacceptable for the Moldovan side, given that the invoked issue was settled in 2004, with the support of experts of the World Health Organization.
In the lack of a compromise on important topics on the agenda, which were transferred for a meeting due on 29 November, the participants in the meeting took note of the report of the Joint Military Command for the period 14-20 November 2018.
In continuation, the JCC members moved to the posts No 1, No 6 and No 10 of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, placed in the southern sector of the Security Zone, in order to check the level of preparation for carrying out the service during the winter time; the Commission members found out no infringements of the regulations set by the Joint Military Command.
