Aviation security sector to be adjusted to European regulations in Moldova

Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/ - The aviation security sector from Moldova will be adjusted with the European regulations. The parliament adopted a draft new law on aviation security in the final reading today.
The document establishes new requirements and standards concerning the protection of civil aviation against acts of illicit intervention. The provisions will be applied to the airports situated in Moldova, which are not used on exclusively military purposes, air operators, including air carriers, which provide services in airports, as well as to all entities which apply standards in the aviation.
The law imposed the European terminology in the aviation security field and contains regulations providing for the implementation of the stipulations from the international conventions signed by Moldova. The list of security equipments will no longer be set forth exhaustively in the document, which will allow using high-tech equipments as they will modernize. The law also contains a comprehensive chapter, which stipulates in detail the activities of assessing the efficiency of the aviation security measures.
The document also sees new articles which refer to the cyber security in the civil aviation sector and security control of the onboard supplies.
The law will enter into force six months after its publication in Moldova’s Official Journal.
