Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/ - A delegation of the north-western Glodeni district council paid a visit to the Baranavichy district of Belarus this week. The sides considered more opportunities of cooperation in the agriculture and processing industry.

The Glodeni delegation took knowledge of the work of a factory for producing butter and pressed cheese, of a farm for breeding cattle, as well as of an enterprise for cultivating mushrooms. At the same time, Moldovan decision-makers had more meetings at the Baranavichy district executive council. They met the head of this Belarusian district, Vasily Khvatik, who pointed out the sectors of strategic development between the administrations from Baranavichy and Glodeni.

The Belarusian side showed interest in developing cooperation in the agro-industrial field and, in particular, in buying from Glodeni producer soy, wheat, fodder for supplying poultry farm of three million birds. The Moldovan side is to assess the production potential, so that, subsequently, direct contracts are signed between economic agents from Baranavichy and Glodeni.

The visit to Belarus fit into the provisions of an agreement on twinning between the Glodeni and Baranavichy districts, approved under a decision by the district council, at a proposal of the district head, Ion Leuca. “I describe the visit to Baranavichy as quite productive; this is a district having more tangencies with the Glodeni district. Both settlements are oriented preponderantly to the agro-industrial development and our cooperation might help us turn to good account the potential we have in this sector, to open new sales markets for farming products,” the head of the Glodeni district, Ion Leuca said.
