Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/ - Parents will be able to register children of the age of two years at crèches or kindergartens, according to amendments made to the Education Code, passed by the parliament in the first and second readings today.

The document’s goal is to ensure the access of children of the age of two years to the pre-school education services, thus contributing to the development of their skills. Earlier, the state has financed the early education services for children from the age of 3 years till 6 years. The initiative will provide access to education services, especially for children from socially vulnerable families. At the same time, due to the fact that these services will be accessible for children beginning with the age of 2 years, parents will be able to easier get employed.

The state will gradually provide the development of education services, depending on the level of education and the places available in early education institutions, as well on the financial means provided for to this end. Presently, about 800 such institutions of Moldova are prepared or are in the process of adaptation of the infrastructure, in order to receive a half of the number of children aged 2-3 years. Financial means were provided for these children in the national public budget starting from 2019.

The state will gradually extend the financings of the education services for these children, based on a programme on development of early education services, worked out by the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, in cooperation with the local public authorities and the Finance Ministry.
