Chisinau, 26 November /MOLDPRES/ - The work and dedication of the agriculture sector employees has been paid homage at a festive ceremony organized on the occasion of the day of the agriculture and processing industry employee. Prime Minister Pavel Filip congratulated the farmers on this holiday, noting that they are people who can work, can edify and who, despite challenges, move forward, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Pavel Filip stressed that the cabinet had made considerable efforts in the last three years to improve the economic situation in Moldova and come up with investments to support farmers. Thus, the subsidization fund in agriculture grew up to one billion lei, with the debts in unpaid subsidies paid off. The PM highlighted also the facilities provided to young people and women who start businesses in agriculture. In 2018, the state allocated 45 million lei to this end. “We have already 27 young people who will receive 13 million lei. We must encourage them and back those who want to dare. They are the ones who move us forward,” Pavel Filip said.
The prime minister recalled that, in his childhood, he used to hear often the toast, May God Give Rain. And his dream is to make this toast disappear from the list of toasts for farmers. “We must take care to make a modern agriculture and not fully depend on the climate conditions or the weather. I want our farmers not to think about selling what they produce, but maybe more to produce what is sold,” Pavel Filip said.
At the same time, the prime minister said that the government would further support measures for the development of the agricultural system at a high level and enhancing the competitiveness. “I encourage you to advance with confidence in zones and products with high value added, to invest in modern equipment, to invest in modern technologies, so that we are everybody absolutely sure that the harvest which we have grown will be sold and you will get profits from this activity,” Pavel Filip added.
