Meteorologists inform about Yellow Code of complicated weather conditions in Moldova

Chisinau, 26 November /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has announced Yellow Code of complicated weather conditions for today and 27 November.  

According to meteorologists, sleet and rain are expected on 26-27 November. Today evening and on the night of 27 November, heavy precipitation is forecast (the quantity of precipitation is seen to be 15-20 litres/square metre and the snow layer is to reach 10-15 cm). Glazed frost is expected in some places. Roads will be covered with ice.    

According to the National Meteorology Administration of Romania, bad weather conditions are signaled also in more countries of this country, where rains or drizzle is expected, with fog in some regions, triggering the decrease of the visibility under 200 metres and even under 50 metres.

In this context, rescuers warn residents to take into account the weather warnings and not set out to long journeys, if not necessary. At the same time, drivers are urged to equip their transport means with winter tyres and to have shovels, sand, water and food reserves in car boots.  

Specialists recommend that people choosing to set out for long journeys have charged batteries in their mobile phones and call the emergency Service 112 in case of risk situations. Also, people are asked to avoid moving on road segments where branches or electric cables are hanged, in order to avoid injuries.   

In case of Yellow Code, the weather conditions are potentially dangerous, the forecast weather phenomena are usual for Moldova’s territory; yet, sometimes, they may become dangerous for certain social and economic activities.
