Chisinau, 26 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Christmas Tree, due to set on the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN) from Chisinau, will be donated by a local economic agent and is to be inaugurated on 5 December. The acting general mayor of Chisinau, Ruslan Codreanu, made statements to this effect at a weekly meeting of the city hall’s services today.
According to the local authorities, the tree will have a height of 20 metres. As much as 200,000 lei is annually earmarked for the Spatii Verzi (Green Areas) enterprise for buying decorations and lights for the winter holidays and another 170,000 for the Lumteh enterprise.
„I asked decision-makers to come up with another concept of lighting the tree. I do not want stages and children freezing during concerts organized for adults. I want it to be a nice holiday for children. We ruled to inaugurate the tree on 5 December, in order to manage to decorate it nicely,” Codreanu noted.
At the same time, the municipal authorities are to decide whether the traditional trade points will set in PMAN or in each district of the capital.
This year, an artificial tree will be set in Chisinau for the first time ever. The decision was taken following an opinion poll conducted by authorities.
