Over 200 persons suffer fractures due to icy pavements in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 26 November /MOLDPRES/ – Over 200 persons needed medical care last week after they fell and suffered fractures or traumas due to icy pavements and roads. The announcement was made today at the weekly meeting of Chisinau municipality's mayoral services.
According to the information presented, about 200 people addressed the Institute of Emergency Medicine (IMU) in Chisinau, and more 59 ones at the sections of traumatology within the sector's medical institutions. There were hospitalised 27 persons out of the total number of patients.
Also, daily, there have addressed a total of 43 to 65 persons for shelter and hot food at the Hosting and orientation centre for persons without stable residence (CGOPFDS).
The meteorologists have announced the Yellow Code of complicated weather conditions for 26 November and 27 November. It is forecasted rain and snow between 26 – 27 November. It is expected heavy rainfall on Monday evening and Tuesday night (the amount of rainfall will be 15 – 20 l/m2, and the snow layer will reach 10 – 15 cm) with isolated glazed frost and icy roads.
The traumatologists recommend that people, especially elderly ones, refrain from travelling through the city during the snowfall and glazed frost. If you happen to fall down and feel serious pain in the injured parts of your body, ask the passers – by to call the Emergency Service 112. Do not undertake anything until the arrival of doctors, because any additional movement could further aggravate the trauma, warn the traumatologists.
