Chisinau, 26 November /MOLDPRES/- 36 new ambulances, "B", equipped with modern equipment, will reach emergency medical points. 35 cars will be distributed to the emergency points in Chisinau and one for the Mother and Child Institute, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Attending the ambulance distribution ceremony, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said that the renewal of the ambulance park would increase the intervention capacity, create better working conditions for medical workers and increase the quality of services provided to patients.
"This example of investment fits perfectly into the logic of the reforms we make in the health system. We started with public health, now we talk about primary health care and the concept of hospital reform. All these reforms will not be effective enough if we do not have the emergency medicine infrastructure developed,” he said.
The premier pointed out that purchase of ambulances from the state budget was possible due to reforms implemented by the government to improve the business environment, increase country’s investment attractiveness and reforms in state institutions: from Tax Inspectorate to Customs Service. Following these reforms, revenues to the state budget increased by about 2 billion lei, offering the opportunity to invest in the health sector. Other investments in this area are following. Soon, with the support of the Council of Europe Development Bank, about 170 ambulances will be purchased.
"Take full advantage of these ambulances. You are the ones who give first aid and represent an important link in the perception of citizens about medical service in Moldova. We will take care that all the necessary elements have a symbiosis - we have already launched the 112 service, we are building good roads and this environment will eventually lead people to feel better here at home in Moldova," he said.
55 million lei had been earmarked from the state budget for the procurement of the 36 ambulances.
This year, other 74 ambulances were bought, already distributed in the country's localities.
