Chisinau, 27 November /MOLDPRES/- Moldova Business Week 2018 - the most important economic event in the country today brought together over a thousand business people from around 30 states, representatives of local companies, authorities and development partners. Prime Minister Pavel Filip encouraged investors to discover the potential of our country, highlighting the existing opportunities: access to EU and CIS markets and favorable conditions for business, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
“Moldova, the one in 2018, is perfect for investment, because today our country is different than three years ago," the premier said. In this context, he referred to the government's measures to improve the business environment, including: approving the tax reform, reducing the institutions with control functions, reorganizing the Customs and Tax Services, and developing investment projects within the free economic zones and IT parks.
Following the reforms, there was a steady economic growth in the second quarter of the year, reaching 5.2%. At the same time, the number of people receiving salaries in the envelope dropped twice, exports increased by 30% and in just half a year foreign direct investments of about 130 million dollars were made. However, investments worth 380 million dollars are forecast for next two years. "These are actually the best arguments - figures. Figures do not need statements and explanations. The figures are never lying and talking to us - they are the results of the reforms we have started," he said.
Filip noted that progress in business environment development is also recognized by the international community - according to the Doing Business 2019 ranking, our country ranks 14th in the business start-up chapter. "I really believe in the Republic of Moldova, in this country and its people. Moldova is changing, developing and evolving. I invite you to join us in this process - to invest and grow in Moldova,” he said.
The fifth edition of Moldova Business Week will take place on 27-29 November. The program will include business meetings, visits to local producers, lectures and information sessions.
