Chisinau hosts national festival of theatre for children

Chisinau, 27 November /MOLDPRES/ - Eight theatres from Moldova participate in the fourth issue of the international festival of theatre for children Acasă la Guguţă (At Guguta’s Home), due to be held in Chisinau till 2 December. The festival’s opening took place at the Guguta Municipal Theatre today and coincided with the 26th anniversary of the theatre’s foundation.
In her greeting message, the theatre’s artistic director, Gabriela Lungu, said that, set up by the departed actor and stage manager Victor Stefaniuc 26 years ago, the Guguta Municipal Puppet Theatre had proved its purpose of promoter of the people’s traditions and culture, preserving its talent and courage to cultivate kindness, generosity and the spirit of national dignity in the souls of children.
According to the institution’s director, the goal of the festival is to promote plays for children.
The plays presented at the festival will be assessed by a jury made up of children and teenagers, winners of national contests of theatrical art and by a secondary jury, made up of specialists in the field.
Besides the Guguta Municipal Puppet Theatre, participating in the event are also the Luceafarul Republican Theatre, Roses Street State Dramatic Theatre for Youth, A. P. Chekhov Russian State Dramatic Theatre, Licurici Republican Puppet Theatre, Theatre Boy Julien from Chisinau, Vasile Alecsandri National Theatre from Balti and the B.P Hasdeu Musical and Dramatic Republican Theatre from Cahul.
The Guguta Municipal Puppet Theatre was founded on 27 November 1992. During a quarter of century, more than 40 plays have been staged here, signed by authors from the national and universal literature. The institution was laureate of more festivals from Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine and other countries. In 2017, the theatre’s troupe participated in the International Festivals in Brasov, Falticeni, Alba-Iulia and Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Cherkassy and Vinnytsia, Ukraine.
