Chisinau, 27 November /MOLDPRES/ - Six cities from Moldova will implement projects on urban revitalization, financed through the Ministry of Investment and Economic Development of Poland. More ideas of this programme have been recently considered at a workshop in Costesti, central Ialoveni district.

Representatives of those six cities presented the process of elaboration of a programme on urban revitalization, highlighting an interesting local specific feature. Thus, the zone due to be revitalized must represent an attractive symbol and history. For instance, it is about the Old Centre in Ocnita, in Soroca – the specific character of the inclusion of ethnic minorities, in Cimislia – the area of the Vocational School is envisaged to be revitalized; in the Edinet city – pupils and children from pre-school institutions of the Mendeleev zone are planned to be involved in identifying ideas of projects.

The programmes were worked out taking into account the experience of probations, Moldovan specialists had in Poland in last October. In particular, practices from the towns of Leszno, Starachowice and Walbrzych were mentioned, where revitalization ideas were carried out with the involvement of residents and community mobilization.

The Costesti workshop was held within a project titled, Support to Moldova’s government to implement the National Regional Development Strategy of Moldova in the field of urban policy and urban development. This activity is implemented in the context of promotion of the approach of Urban Revitalization in Moldova, with the support of the programme on cooperation for development of the Polish Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The project was launched in the summer of 2017 and is to be completed in 2019, being carried out in three stages.
