Campaign on combat of HIV/AIDS launched in south of Moldova

Chisinau, 27 November /MOLDPRES/ – The generic of a social campaign launched today is: Together we stop AIDS, and it will be held until 15 December in localities of Gagauzia, Cimislia and Taraclia. The action has become traditional in autonomy and aims to promote healthy lifestyles, testing procedures, and tolerance towards HIV/AIDS infected persons.  

The campaign is organised by the Regional Centre: Impreuna pentru viata (Together for life), and in several localities it is promoted by several personalities known in autonomy.

According to organisers, during the campaign, it will be offered free HIV/AIDS testing services and some communicable diseases in five southern cities, according to gagauzinfo.md. The Action Agenda also provides for several awareness – raising events on the issue of this disease, also called "the plague of the 20th century". These ones include exhibitions, debates held by specialists in medicine and psychology, information material distribution, encounters with infected people who are not afraid to tell their story, etc.

The campaign began today in Taraclia, on 28 November it will continue in Ceadar – Lunga, later in Cimislia, Vulcanesti, and will end on 01 December in Comrat.

Also, on 27 November – 15 December, the collaborators of the Together for Life Centre will organise lessons in the educational institutions of Gagauzia on theme: It stands for everybody. Similarly, it is planned a charity campaign: The Generous City, where it will be gathered aid for disadvantaged people, especially those ones with HIV/AIDS.

The action in the south of Moldova takes place in the context of the World AIDS Day, marked yearly on 01 December.
