Chisinau, 27 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova is concerned about the escalation of tensions between Moscow and Kiev; yet, there are no dangers for Moldova’s security at present. Prime Minister Pavel Filip made statements to this effect after a meeting held at the government today.
The PM specified that he had had a phone conversation with his Kiev counterpart and assured him of Moldova’s every support.
„These developments do not contribute to the settlement of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. We are concerned about Russia’s aggression acts, which affect the security in the region, in general. Moldova condemns the unilateral and provocative actions of Russia and we are by the side of the Kiev authorities,” Filip said.
According to Pavel Filip, the authorities ruled to set up a working group, due to be made up of representatives of the Interior Ministry, Defence Ministry, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry, Bureau for Reintegration, Intelligence and Security Service, Customs Service and Border Police. The group will monitor the situation and will inform about eventual evolutions.
The PM also said that, for the moment, the work of the border crossing points was not hit; yet, he recommended that the Moldovans planning to travel to Ukraine show maximum prudence when crossing the border and be prepared for additional verifications. At the same time, Moldova’s Border Police will boost measures of supervision and control at the frontier and at the border checkpoints.
The Ukrainian parliament on 26 November evening approved the introduction of the martial law at the border regions for a period of 30 days, against the backgrounds of tensions with Russia.
