Photodocumentary exhibition on Centenary of Great Union inaugurated in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 27 November /MOLDPRES/ – A photographic exhibition: The monuments of the Great Union, was inaugurated today in Chisinau by the National History Museum of Moldova (MNIM), in partnership with the National Heritage Institute in Bucharest.
Attending the event, the State Secretary for Culture, Andrei Chistol said that this exhibition demonstrates the path our forefathers have made in the realisation of the Great Union. "We must also talk about the context in which the Great Union was formed, which was the role of the great personalities and the role of the people's will of that time," said Andrei Chistol.
Interviwed by agency, deputy director of MNIM, Elena Postica, institution that hosts the exhibition, has said that it aims to promote the monuments relevant to the Great Union, silent witnesses of events and actions that prepared the act of 01 December 1918.
According to cited source, the project aims to highlight the role of the major capitals – Alba – Iulia, Arad, Bucharest, Iasi, Chisinau, historical and political personalities in the national movement and achievement of the Great Union.
The deputy director of the National Heritage Institute in Bucharest, Dana Mihai, has said that the message of the exhibition is remembrance, revaluation and promotion of these monuments, because not everyone knows what they represented, what big and great people value were in them.
"Alba – Iulia represents the place where it was made the Great Union, and then in Bucharest, the capital of the old kingdom, to confirm the Union's act of 1918. And Arad was the centre where the plebiscite was thought and prepared," said Dana Mihai.
The exhibition is open for two months.
