National Awards for development of youth sector given in Moldova

Chisinau, 27 November /MOLDPRES/ – There were given several awards and mentions in the framework of the National Prize Gala for Youth Development, issue 2018, organised by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC), which took place today in Chisinau. The event aimed to encourage achievements, performances of young people as well as the contribution of the organisations in the field to the development of the youth sector.

During the event, Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Monica Babuc, mentioned that youth is an extraordinary resource of Moldova, which we must take care of, but also from which we have to learn. At the same time, the official stressed, young people must actively participate in the decision-making process, in the development of the country in the cultural, social, political and economic spheres, to be involved in our lives at all levels.

With the prize Youth Level Specialist Level 1, worth MDL 12 thousand, was awarded Ana Butucel from Ciorescu commune, Chisinau for the fact that she helped to facilitate the implementation of youth policies at local level the assistance programme for strengthening and development of Youth Local Councils, Youth Development Programme and created the conditions for setting up the Local Youth Council in this commune.

The 2018 Youth Specialist in Local Level II Public Authorities was awarded Victor Gherman, the Orhei District Council, for having made a direct contribution to signing the Partnership Agreement within the Youth Centre Development Programme, with a view to expanding territorial range of services for young people. At present, there are three branches in Orhei: Susleni, Putinita and Ivancea. Victor Gherman received a prize worth MDL 12,000.

Nona Mihalcean from the Teen Resources Centre CRAT in Balti took the prize Youth worker of 2018 in the amount of MDL 12,000, and with the mention of the same category were Stela Babici, director Executive Director of the Dacia Youth Resource Center in Soroca and Petru Grecu, President of the Municipal Youth Council in Chisinau. They received MDL 5,000.

The Youth Council of the Year 2018 Prize of MDL 15,000 was awarded to the District Council of Orhei Youth, and the district youth councils of Anenii Noi and Ungheni were distinguished with the same category. The Youth Centre of 2018 was designated the Regional Youth Centre Ungheni, which received a prize worth MDL 20,000.

At the same time, within the Gala, it was officially announced the locality that would hold the title of Youth Capital 2019. According to organisers, the commune of Costesti (Ialoveni district), designated as Youth Capital 2019, enjoys extensive experience in implementing projects at local level as well as partnerships with youth organisations in the process of implementing activities in the field of youth. In order to carry out activities within programme Youth Capital 2019, Costesti village has allocated about MDL 400,000 from its own budget and managed to mobilise its partners for the allocation of another MDL 400,000.
