SP has meeting with ambassadors accredited in Moldova

Chisinau, 27 November /MOLDPRES/ – Speaker of Parliament, Andrian Candu, has had a meeting today with the accredited ambassadors in Moldova in Bucharest, where took place a constructive exchange of views on ways to diversify Moldovan cooperation with the EU member states, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

The discussions focused on the main topics of domestic and regional relevance. The SP informed the ambassadors about the security risks and challenges facing Moldova as well as other states in the region. He spoke about measures taken by authorities to ensure security against hybrid hazards. In this context, he announced the intention to set up a Strategic Coordination Centre for Combating Hybrid Threats, a project at which it is worked with Ukraine and Georgia.

Also, Andrian Candu highlighted the need for solidarity with the common security challenges and encouraged the EU to engage at the bilateral and European levels in joint projects to tackle the hybrids threats.

Andrian Candu encouraged, through the ambassadors, broad participation in parliamentary election observation missions in 2019. He reiterated the determination of the authorities to organise free and fair, inclusive, transparent, internationally compliant choices.

The SP announced that Moldova and the current parliamentary majority are determined to continue the European path of Moldova and count on the support of the EU member states for Moldova after the parliamentary elections in Chisinau and in the European Parliament.

Andrian Candu has spoken about measures taken to minimise the effects of the bank – theft crisis and the progress of investigation into the recovery of fraudulent goods. He also referred to the improvement of the business climate, pro – business reforms promoted in recent years, reform of financial and banking sector, reform of public administration, as well as legislative norms supporting independence of judiciary and fight against corruption, effects of which will be felt even more in time.

The head of the Parliament has stressed that the priorities of the Moldovan authorities, including after the elections, remain the welfare of the inhabitants of Moldova, ensuring security, strengthening the rule of law, combating corruption and continuing the European path.
