Over 500 special vehicles to intervene for snow removal in winter

Chisinau, 28 November /MOLDPRES/- Over 500 transport units will be involved in snow-clearing and distribution of anti-skid material on national roads in winter. Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Chiril Gaburici and State Secretary Anatol Usatai made the statement today.

At the same time, 41 video cameras are installed on the national roads, whereby each traffic participant can be informed about road conditions. Images can be viewed on the State Road Administration website.

Gaburici urged drivers to be informed about road conditions before starting a trip. The minister added that, if necessary, citizens can call non-stop the ASD operative service at 022-74-89-61.

Usatai noted that according to the rules, the intervention time for snow removal is 3-6 hours after cessation of precipitation for national roads and 8 hours for local ones. He also said that last night, about 1,600 tons of anti-skid material were distributed on the country's roads, involving 93 teams and over 190 workers.

In Moldova there are 9,300 km of national roads and 3,900 km of local roads of regional interest.
