Chernobyl accident's victims from Moldova to receive higher pensions as of 01 January 2019

Chisinau, 28 November /MOLDPRES/ – The victims of the Chernobyl disaster as well as the families of the deceased victims of the catastrophe will receive higher pensions starting 01 January 2019. The Government has positively endorsed the legislative initiative aimed at the social protection of the participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the accident, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Thus, pension beneficiaries for severe disabilities will receive monthly MDL 400 additionally. The pensions of those with disabilities will increase by MDL 300, while the average persons with disabilities will benefit from an increase of MDL 200. Also, it will increase the pension in case of loss of the breadwinner: the families of the persons who died as a consequence of the Chernobyl disaster will receive MDL 200 more for each member of the family.

The expenses for the modifications will be made within the limits of the planned financial means within state budget for 2019.
