National Bank of Moldova puts into circulation commemorative coin on 25th anniversary of Moldovan leu's introduction

Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/ - The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) has put into circulation a commemorative metallic coin dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the introduction of the national currency in Moldova. The concerned decision was published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) today.

The coin was issued as a payment means and on numismatic purposes starting from today, when the 25th anniversary of the Moldovan leu is marked.

The coin has a nominal value of ten lei and will circulate as legal payment means in Moldova, in parallel with the metallic coins (issued in 2018) and banknotes with the nominal value of ten lei (issued in 1994, 2013 and 2015).

BNM, jointly with the National History Museum and the International Club of Collectors from Moldova, today organizes an exhibition of coins, which comprises the period since the beginning of the Anno Domini till present, on the occasion of marking a quarter of century of the national currency’s introduction.

BNM’s decision enters into force on the date of its publication in Moldova’s Official Journal.
