National library of Moldova inaugurates exhibition dedicated to centenary of Great Union

Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/ – An exhibition – event entitled: Centenary of the Great Union (1918 – 2018), occasioned by the celebration of a century from the unification of the Romanians in Bessarabia (March 1918), Bucovina (November 1918), Transylvania, Banat, Crisana and Maramures, took place today at the National Library of Moldova (BNM).
Interviewed by agency, director of the institution, Elena Pintilei, has mentioned that the exhibition contains over 130 books and highlights the collections of the library, reflecting the way the Romanian people passed in the implementation of the Union Act. "We have here also recently published volumes: Romania – Great Union (1918 – 2018) at TIPO Moldova publishing house in Iasi. The 100 books in the above – mentioned collection aim to form a coherent vision on the evolution of Romanian historiography, and the first volume belongs to the historian Nicolae Iorga and is called: National Hotspots and Spaces", said Elena Pintilei.
According to the quoted source, all volumes are accompanied by documents, many of them previously unpublished, collection being recommended to both the public wishing to know the historical truth and teachers, specialists in the domain.
Attending the event, academician Andrei Esanu said that the exhibition urges us to meditate on an event of great significance – 01 December 1918, when all the Romanian provinces managed to unite in one national state – modern Romania. At his turn, the historian Ion Negrei specified that the works presented at the exhibition constitute the patrimony that belongs to us, while "culture is a pivot on which the nation is maintained".
Singer Maria Iliut held a musical recital in front of audience.
The exhibition is open until 27 March 2019.
