Evolutions within justice presented at new meeting of Moldova – EU association committee

Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/ – State Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Anatolie Munteanu, presented the developments in the judiciary at the new meeting of the EU – Moldova Association Committee, which is taking place in Brussels.
The Moldovan official has spoken about the approval of several legislative amendments aimed at modernising the Civil Code and the related framework, simplifying the civil procedure, establishing a mechanism for accountability of judges, uniformising the ways of access to the position of judge, etc.
Also, in order to ensure transparency in the judiciary system, it was highlighted implementation of info technologies in the justice sector – reconfiguration of info subsystem e – Justice file, part of the Integrated File Management System (PIGD). At present, piloting of the e – Justice file subsystem takes place in all Chisinau courts and in the Chisinau Court of Appeal, the testing period being extended to the finalisation and implementation of the new PIGD.
Another component of the reform of justice sector, which was under discussion, was the reorganisation of judiciary, which has been carried out gradually, by optimising the number of judges, offices and specialisation of judges.
The Association Committee meeting is held annually and aims at assessing the level of implementation of the provisions of the Association Agreement, including both the progress and the related challenges.
