Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/- The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia has stopped importing apricots, cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums and fresh corn produced by economic agents from Cantemir and Ialoveni districts. The restriction was imposed because "plums are infected with the pathogen Monilinia fructicola," the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) today announced. The institution was informed about the decision of the Russian party by letter.
As a result, ANSA announced it had initiated a service inquiry. The institution will analyze the documents and results of the laboratory analyzes. Depending on the results of the investigation, the ANSA will request the Russian Service to set up a Joint Commission to inspect jointly with fruit samples from cold storages both in Cantemir and Ialoveni and in other districts at the choice of the Russian side.
At the same time, to prevent export of fruits infested with Monilinia fructicola and Grapholita molesta, ANSA worked out preventive measures. Thus, the institution has forced exporters of kernel fruit to the Russian Federation to submit the results of the laboratory tests that would indicate the absence of the quarantine organism. ANSA noted that just based on these analyzes, the phytosanitary export certificate is concluded.
Previously, the Russian media wrote that tens of tons of Moldavian plums were destroyed in the Russian Federation, because of a quarantine object found in them.
