Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/ – An international prose fest called Quadrat is organised for the first time in Moldova, which will be held until 01 December. The event started with an international symposium: The prose today, which took place at the Public library O. Ghibu in Chisinau.
Interviewed by agency, head of the Union of Writers of Moldova (USM), Arcadie Suceveanu, mentioned that since the end of the last century, there have been several transfusions in Moldovan literature that have passed from other literary genres to prose. "I am glad we can talk about prose today. Since 2000, over 100 novels have been published in Moldova. Thus, the novel conquered solid positions. During this period two giant anthologies appeared. In anthology: Literature in Bessarabia, 20th century, the prose covers 4 volumes of the total 12. And this year, it was launched anthology: Literature from Bessarabia, beginning of XXI century, in which two volumes were returned to the novels and another – short prose. These anthologies set the whole process of progression evolution, a spectacular evolution. Unfortunately, in this avalanche also appeared books in a hurry, on computer, written somehow...", said Arcadie Suceveanu.
At his turn, writer Vladimir Besleaga, the event moderator, said that the period since 2000 turned out to be quite fertile to prose. "On one hand, the number of writers has increased, and on the other hand, the number of readers has decreased. The books appear in a print run of 200 – 300 copies, out of which only 100 – 150 are marketed," said Vladimir Besleaga.
During the communication session, literary critic Maria Sleahtitchi spoke about the evolution of the novel in Moldova, Nina Corcinschi – about the narrative identities of seduction in postmodern fiction, and Maria Pilchin referred to the poetics of Bessarabian prose. Also here was the number one issue of the prose magazine and visual arts Quadrat.
On 30 November, the participants in the festival will meet with students and pupils from educational institutions in Chisinau: Moldova State University (USM), Tiraspol State Pedagogical University (UPST) (with headquarters in Chisinau), Theoretical high school Spiru Haret, etc.
