Other 50,000 low-income families to receive compensation for heat

Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/- More than 50,000 disadvantaged families will receive compensation for heat after the parliament has decided that those who have incomes up to 2,000 lei will be eligible to receive help during the cold season.

According to the draft adopted in final reading by MPs, the minimum guaranteed monthly income index used to establish the right to aid for the cold season of the year was increased from 1.6 to 1.95. Currently its value is 1,640 lei and is to be increased up to 1,999 lei.

The increase in the minimum guaranteed monthly income will allow for an additional 50 thousand families to be included in the social assistance program for the cold period of the year, with the total number reaching over 197 thousand families.

The legislative amendments adopted also stipulate that the National Social Assistance Agency should transfer funds to the local authorities to finance the minimum social services package.
