Coaches of performance athletes to receive life indemnities in Moldova

Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ – The coaches who have prepared medalist athletes at the Olympic or Paralympic Games at the World or European Championships will benefit from a lifetime indemnities. The Legislature has adopted a draft law on it in the final reading today.

The legislative amendment was initiated by MPs Nicolae Juravschi and Andrian Candu. According to the project, the coaches who have won gold medals at the Olympic and Paralympic Games will receive an average wage, 0.9 per cent of the average salary will be offered for the first silver medal obtained at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, 0.8 – for the first bronze medal medal at the Olympic and Paralympic Games or the first gold medal at the world championships, 0.7 – for the first silver medal at the world championships and 0.6 – for the first bronze medal at the world championships or the first gold medal at European championships. 

The payment of life indemnities will be made monthly, depending on the level of performance of the trained athletes. When determining the amount of the life allowance, there will be used data on the average salary for the economy, communicated by the National Bureau of Statistics (BNS), for the month before the payment of the rights.

The coaches, citizens and residents of Moldova will be entitled to a living indemnities, which have prepared athletes who have been awarded medals at individual or team trials at the Olympic Games, in the world championships or in the title of European champion of seniors. They will benefit from the allowance if they have reached the legal retirement age and have an internship of at least 20 years as a coach. The new regulations also include people who worked as coaches of the sports teams of former USSR.

The amendments enter into force on 01 January 2019.
