Moldovan writers mark centenary of Great Union

Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ – A festive event called: The Centenary of the Union. Celebrating together took place today at the Union of Writers of Moldova (USM).
On this occasion, the National Literary Museum M. Kogalniceanu opened an exhibition of books, documents and photos, dedicated to the precursors and protagonists of the Great Union: Alexei Mateevici, Simion Murafa, Ion Buzdugan, Constantin Stere, Pantelimon Halippa, Stefan Ciobanu, etc. According to the director of the institution, Vasile Malanetchi, among the exhibits is the text of the speech of Alexei Mateevici at the Congregation of the Teachers of Bessarabia of 25 May 1917, as well as that of the speech of Constantin Stere presented at the council meeting when it was voted the Union.
Interviewed by agency, head of USM, Arcadie Suceveanu, said that the Centenary of Union is a good opportunity to remember our predecessors who had contributed to realisation of this ideal of all Romanians – establishment of a national unitary state in its natural borders. In this context, the prose writer, Vladimir Besleaga, spoke about the 20th century Bessarabian Romanian writers who actively participated in the movement of national liberation and rebirth.
During the event, editor Anatol Vidrascu presented the books published and dedicated to the Centenary of the Great Union, and the pupils of high school Prometheus – Prim held a literary-musical recital.
