Moldova's two central districts to implement more energy efficiency projects

Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ – In Ungheni and Calarasi districts, there will be implemented projects in energy efficiency and valorisation of renewable energy sources. They aim to increase energy consumption in the Theoretical Highschool Dimitrie Cantemir in Cornesti town, Ungheni district, and secondary school in commune Dereneu, Calarasi district.

The projects were approved for financing at the meeting of the Energy Efficiency Fund Council (FEE), chaired by Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici. They are at the stage of preparing the documentation and initiating the implementation of energy efficiency measures. The total value of the projects amounts up to MDL 3 million.

The FEE has also accepted three other pilot projects aimed at increasing consumption in Semeni village in Ungheni district and kindergarten Lastaras in Calarasi city. The third project – The improving public lighting in Calarasi – Licurici in the heart of Codru, financed in partnership with programme of the EU Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Project (CoM-DeP). The total investments related to the pilot projects amount up to MDL 15.8 million.

"For each locality, these projects are very important, because they mean less spending, fewer losses and more energy efficiency, which is why they are important to us as well. We will work and expand the projects so that we have district by district, covering the whole country," said chairman of the management board of FEE, Chiril Gaburici.

The Energy Efficiency Fund has the mission of attracting and managing financial resources to finance and implement projects within energy efficiency and valorisation of renewable energy sources.
