Assistant posts in MP cabinet to be excluded

Chisinau, 2 December /MOLDPRES/- The post of assistant in the deputy's cabinet will be excluded. A decision in this regard was taken by parliament.

The assistant's position will be replaced by an annual budget that will be given to the deputy for the performance of his mandate. At the same time, MPs will be able to contract personal assistants, experts in various fields according to the requirements and needs of the legislative process. At the same time, lawmakers can be helped in their work by a volunteer assistant.

The amendments will be carried out in the context of the modernization process of public institutions, a commitment reflected in the Public Administration Reform Strategy for 2016-2020 and in line with the good practices and experience of the parliaments of the EU states.

The provisions will enter into force on 1 March 2019, in the new parliamentary term.

At present, according to the national legislation, a cabinet can be assisted: speaker and deputy speaker of the parliament, heads of parliamentary factions, MPs, president of the Republic of Moldova, prime minister, first deputy prime minister, deputy prime ministers, ministers, Ombudsman, mayor of Chisinau and general directors of central administrative authorities.
