Christmas fair to be inaugurated on 15 December in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 03 December /MOLDPRES/ – The Christmas Fair will be inaugurated on 15 December on street Chisinau 31 August 1989, the perimeter of streets Metropolitan G. Banulescu – Bodoni – A. Pushkin. The announcement was made today by Prime Minister Pavel Filip in a press conference.

The official specified that a Christmas tree would be inaugurated by the Government of Romania. "It was a complicated year. That is why we decided that beautiful things should continue with the organisation of the fair. The tree to be inaugurated is a gift from our friends across the Prut. The colleagues have already elected it, and in a week it will be brought to Chisinau. The visitors to the fair will have fun at the Venetian carousel, but also at the largest ice rink in the country. One of the surprises this year is a panoramic wheel with a height of 20 metres, from where you can see stunning pictures. Also, there can be found the products of the craftsmen, traditional dishes and boiled wine at the fair," said Filip.

The PM said that the fair should be visited by over 5,000 children with special needs, from placement centres and hospitals, socially vulnerable families, as well as from the left bank of the Dniester. "We are committed to making the warmer and most beautiful holidays for children. The little ones will be brought to the fair and enjoy free carousel, ice rink and receive gifts from Santa Claus. This fair will bring Europe home. I think that in Chisinau it will be even more beautiful than in some European cities. During holidays, we return to families and hope this fair complements beautiful feelings. Now we have to enjoy the unique moments and look very optimistic and confident towards the upcoming year," said Pavel Filip.

The director of Moldova Concert, Andrei Locoman, remarked that during the actions, Brio Sonores will launch a carol, which will be the fair anthem. "The band will also release a CD with carols, and there will be donated 2,000 copies. Similarly, a circus and choreography performance: Alice in Wonderland will be presented on 04, 05 and 06 January, which will be supported by artists from Kiev, Ukraine. The show will be watched by 1,800 children at the National Palace Nicolae Sulac, specified Andrei Locoman.

The fair will start on 08 December. It will be open from 15 December – 15 January. At the same time, the authorities mentioned that the Christmas tree, which is to reach Chisinau, is 20 metres high and comes from the Bucovina area.

The Christmas Fair is organised for the second consecutive year at the initiative of PM Pavel Filip. This year, it has been allocated the amount of MDL 8 million for the organisation of the actions. Simultaneously, the trade fair was visited by over one million people, including about 5,400 socially disadvantaged children who could enjoy more surprises.
