Chisinau, 03 December /MOLDPRES/ – The Christmas Fair, which brings Moldovan citizens home, is a tradition. On 15 December 2018 – 15 January 2019, it will be organised at the initiative of Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, for the second consecutive year, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

"This Christmas Fair brings us a little of Europe, here, to our home, because this year Chisinau will prove that alongside the European cities organises this beautiful celebration. I want people in the country to have time to enjoy this Fair. We have all gone throughout many problems but the time comes when we have to stop running and together with our beloved ones to enjoy beautiful moments and look to the year that comes with much optimism and hope," said Pavel Filip.

The PM said that the tree, like in 2017, will come over the Prut river, being a symbolic gift in the context of marking the Centenary of the Great Union. At the same time, the second issue prepares several surprises: for the first time, will be installed a 20-metre panoramic wheel, from which the entire Fair can be seen. There will also be the largest ice rink in Moldova and a Venetian carousel. In wooden houses, the visitors will be able to buy handmade products, traditional dishes and cinnamon – flavoured wine.

This year, with the support of the Government, the Christmas Fair will be visited by over 5 thousand children with special needs, from placement centres, socially vulnerable families, but also from the Transnistrian region. They will enjoy free carousel, ice rink and panoramic wheel. Also, all the children entering the Santa Claus house will receive sweet gifts.

Another novelty of the Fair is the "Christmas home" carol, written by band Brio Sonoris, which will be the anthem of this year event. "I hope in spite of the Government programmes that have been launched this year and the Christmas Fair to be an extra reason for our citizens abroad to come back home, even if for a short time, because this year too, as we have planned, we will celebrate Christmas Day," concluded Pavel Filip.

The fair will take place on str. 31 August 1989, in the metropolitan area of streets G. Banulescu – Bodoni and A. Pushkin. In 2017, for the first time, Chisinau has aligned itself with the big European cities that organise fairs. The Christmas Fair recorded over 1 million visits (entries) and 5,369 socially disadvantaged children visited the Fair with the support of Government.
