Year 2019 to be year of promoting image of libraries in community for Moldovan librarians

Chisinau, 5 December /MOLDPRES/ - The 2019 year will be a year for the promotion of the image of libraries in the community for librarians. A decision to this effect was taken at a today’s annual forum of managers from the national system of libraries, titled, Library of 2019 Year: Interference of Visions, the 23rd issue.
Attending the event, the state secretary in the culture sector, Andrei Chistol, said that the libraries must further remain an engine for the development of local communities. According to the official, the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, along with the Novateca Programme, invested much in libraries, so that the latter provide modern services and become information centres in communities.
In the context, the director of the Rezina district public library Mihai Eminescu, Galina Davidic, noted that the most important priority of the public libraries for 2019 remained the free, free of charge and non-discriminatory access to needed information and documents.
For her part, the director of the National Library, Elena Pintilei, stressed that the new law on libraries highlighted the status of libraries as library centres within territorial networks, which are to ensure continuous training of the specialty staff and promotes the rights of all libraries to develop international partnerships.
The participants in the forum adopted a declaration reading, inter alia, that the 2019 year was expected to be of great significance, given that the entire library activity is to be reorganized in line with the new law on wage payment in the budgetary sector, new law on libraries and the new necessary regulatory framework.
The participants also asked to establish a Fund for Libraries’ Development at the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, support of the specialty education, continuous professional training and the National Programme on Promotion of Reading.
