Chisinau, 5 December /MOLDPRES/ - India, Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal will be excluded from the list of states whose citizens need invitations to process entry visas for Moldova. The cabinet approved a decision to this end today.
The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry said that the exclusion of India from this list was prompted by the fact that, at present, the Indian economy “has a significant growth, becoming an important actor globally.” India’s economy is the ninth one in the world in terms of the Gross Domestic Product and the fourth one according to the purchasing parity.
Data on the crossing of the state border, unveiled by the General Police Inspectorate, shows that, during 2016 and till the first half of 2018, 3,178 crossings of the state border by Indian citizens were registered, both in entries and exits.
The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal were excluded from the list, as they do not pose “risks and threats for the public order and national security.” A number of 147 Nepal citizens and 93 Sri Lanka ones crossed Moldova’s border in the last two years and a half.
