Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/- The decision on holding referendum on election day was published in the Official Journal of Moldova today.

According to the ruling, the referendum will take place on 24 February 2019, on the same day as the date of the parliamentary elections.

Citizens will have to answer two questions: if they "agree to reduce the number of MPs from 101 to 61" and if they agree that "people might dismiss MPs from office if they fail to meet their obligations properly."

The parliamentary elections were set for 24 February 2019 and will be held by a mixed electoral system, the MPs being elected both on party lists and in constituencies. 110.2 million lei is needed for the ballot. For the time being, there has been no estimated expenditure for the organisation of the consultative referendum on election day.
