Chisinau, 8 December /MOLDPRES/ - The tree due to be inaugurated at the Christmas Fair was brought to Chisinau today.
The ceremony of bringing the Christmas Tree took place just as in the great capitals of the world. On three streets from the centre of Chisinau, the tree was accompanied by more Santa Clauses and a team made up of seven horsemen of the cavalry platoon of the National Patrol Inspectorate. The column was led by a brass band, which sang traditional Christmas songs.
The Christmas Tree was met by Prime Minister Pavel Filip at the government. The official received a certificate on behalf of Education, Culture and Research Minister Monica Babuc, which confirms that the tree is a present on behalf of Romania’s government.
„The Christmas Tale starts from the Christmas Tree. Its bringing was a quite great joy both for me and for my cabinet colleagues. It is nice and symbolical that we meet this tree at a ceremony, which means that the Chisinau municipality aligns with the European capitals. The second year in a row, the Bucharest government gives us the Christmas Tree as a present, which shows once again how close the relation between Moldova and Romania is. This tree is meant to make the Christmas holidays nicer. We need more positivism and nice things, so that people be happy together with us at this wonderful fair,” Filip said.
The tree is to be set at the Christmas Fair today. It has a height of 20 metres and was brought from the mountains of Bukovina. Next week, the tree will be decorated with more than 46,000 LED lamps.
The Christmas Tree will be inaugurated on the 31 August Street from Chisinau, in the perimeter of the streets Metropolitan Banulescu-Bodoni and A. Pushkin, on 15 December. It will be opened till 15 January 2019. The fair is organized by the government the second year in a row.
