Chisinau, 08 December /MOLDPRES/ – The most important "actor" of the Christmas Fair – the Christmas tree brought from Bukovina Mountains, came to the Government today and it was welcomed by Prime Minister, Pavel Filip. The fir tree is about 20 metres high and it will be decorated with over 46,000 LED lights, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The Christmas tree was transported to the main thoroughfare of Chisinau, boulevard Stefan cel Mare si Sfant, accompanied by a group consisting of orchestra, Santa Claus and horsemen. Thus, for the first time, the ceremony of bringing the Christmas tree took place like in the big European cities.
"This means that Chisinau municipality is aligned with the European capitals. I am pleased that for the second consecutive year the Christmas tree is offered with great generosity by our friends and colleagues in Romania. This is another symbol that proves the close connection of Moldova and Romania," said PM.
Pavel Filip mentioned that we need more positivism, more beautiful events, we need people to take some time to rest and enjoy with us all, here at home – "At home for Christmas".
The Christmas Fair will be inaugurated on 15 December. This is the second consecutive year when the Government organises this event.
