Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/- President Igor Dodon will be suspended from office after refusing repeatedly promulgation of five laws voted by parliament. The Constitutional Court judges took the decision today.

A complaint in this regard was submitted late last week by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and Democrat MP Sergiu Sarbu, who asked the court “to declare the circumstances justifying the interim president to overcome the institutional deadlock caused by the head of state to enforce constitutional obligation to promulgate laws repeatedly voted by parliament.”

Sarbu noted that among the five laws is the document stipulating that the land of the Republican Stadium will become the property of the United States of America, the celebration of Europe Day on 9 May, the promulgation of the new Audiovisual Code and the law on the General Carabineer Inspectorate.

"It is not yet known when legislative acts are to be promulgated, but I think this will happen in the coming days,” he said.

According to the court's decision, the documents may be promulgated by speaker Andrian Candu or Premier Pavel Filip.

The CCM decision is final, cannot be subject to any appeal, enters into force upon adoption and shall be published in the Official Journal of Moldova.

This is the fifth time when the court has ruled for suspension of the president.
