New Moldovan finance minister sworn in office

Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/ – The new Minister of Finance, Ion Chicu, has made the oath today. The event was attended by Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, and President, Igor Dodon, who signed the appointment decree of the minister, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
After the investment ceremony, the chief of staff presented Ion Chicu to the Ministry of Finance. The PM said that this time it was very easy and simple to appoint a new Minister of Finance, because Chicu, being the general secretary of institution, was fully involved in the work of the ministry. "From now on, there is another burden that comes to his back – that of political responsibility, but I am confident that things will go as well or perhaps better on the size of finance. Ion Chicu is a professional who has grown and advanced in this field and that you know. I wish you great success because people expect results," said PM.
Also, Pavel Filip thanked the former Minister of Finance, Octavian Armasu, and the entire ministerial team for the results and efforts made, emphasising that they would be continued for implementation of all initiated projects. "So far, it has not been simple – a number of laws have been approved, including the law on payroll. Subsequently, they have to be implemented and I am sure we will manage together," specified Premier.
At his turn, the Minister of Finance thanked for confidence and said that all the results achieved so far in the financial field are also due to the constant support from Executive. "We have always been on the same wave, we have similar objectives – to create conditions for economic development, come up with social projects that improve lives of people and ensure budgetary stability. I assure you that we will continue to have same proactive approach," said Ion Chicu.
The position of the Minister of Finance became vacant after Octavian Armasu was appointed as Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM).
