Chisinau, 11 December /MOLDPRES/- Four ballot papers will be proposed to citizens in the voting booths at the elections on 24 February 2019. The head of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Alina Russu, made the statement in an exclusive interview for MOLDPRES.
Russu noted that in parliamentary elections, the voting will be held under two ballots. "It is about a bulletin that will include the list of candidates nominated by the party / electoral blocks and a bulletin that will include the candidates proposed on the uninominal constituencies. At the same time, two bulletins will be proposed in the consultative referendum, as each question addressed to the citizens will be inserted in a separate bulletin," Russu said.
Also, CEC leadership came up with several recommendations for citizens on preparing for elections. "Before going to the vote, the voter will be informed about the election process, determine which section will exercise their right to vote, if the documents are valid and inform about the election programs of competitors,” she said.
The parliamentary elections of 24 February 2019 will be held for the first time under a mixed system. Also, on election day, a consultative referendum will be held to reduce the number of MPs from 101 to 61 and removal from office, if they fail to properly perform their duties.
