Chisinau, 11 December /MOLDPRES/- Two solar trees will be installed on the pedestrian street Eugen Doga and on the Mircea cel Batran Boulevard in the capital. The locations were proposed by Chisinau residents and approved by the city hall.
According to the municipal authorities, in the selection process, Chisinau residents proposed more than 70 locations for the installation of solar trees. Chisinau residents will be able to charge mobile phones free of charge and have access to the Internet. In the evenings, the trees will enlighten the surroundings due to the accumulated energy from the sun.
Solar trees can generate 800 kWh of electricity per day from renewable sources. The technology will provide an annual reduction of more than 700 kg of CO2.
The installation of solar trees is a regional project funded by UNDP, enjoyed by the capitals of Serbia, Tajikistan, Georgia and the Republic of Moldova.
