Chisinau, 13 December /MOLDPRES/ - All roads are practicable in Moldova and there are no movement blockages. Economics and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici today summoned an emergency meeting, during which he demanded active involvement of all institutions in charge of the state of national roads during winter.
Also, the minister made an appeal to the State Administration of Roads for all cameras to be functional on roads, so that citizens verify the state of roads before setting out. “We will make efforts for all roads to be practicable. We will go to areas, in order to inspect and check how the works of cleaning roads are carried out. Also, I urge pedestrians and drivers to be attentive in traffic, to observe the road traffic regulations and the road signs,” Chiril Gaburici said.
The head of the operative service of the State Administration of Roads, Sergiu Capatina, told MOLDPRES that works of patrol, snow cleaning and combating glazed frost had been carried out on national roads last night. “As many as 148 special vehicles and 312 workers intervened. Roadmen used more than 1,624 tons of anti-skid material. Presently, all road segments are monitored and decision-makers will intervene if necessary,” Sergiu Capatina said.
A representative of the Chisinau city hall’s press service, Vasile Chirilescu, said that the movement was without difficulty in the Moldovan capital. “Workers intervened on problematic sectors in the morning. At present, the state of roads is monitored and we intervene if needed,” Chirilescu noted.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the National Patrol Inspectorate’s press service, Alina Bunghez, said that there were no blocked transport means on Moldova’s roads and vehicles moved without difficulty. “Because of the snowfall, the state of roads can change sharply. Therefore, patrol inspectors remind drivers not to set out without endowing the vehicle with proper tyres; to check the state of the heating installation, the level of the antifreeze substance, screen wipers and water spray; to verify the state of brakes; to equip the vehicle with tyre chains, shovel, scraper and a sack with sand and to drive with a low speed. If you are in a difficult situation and need help, ask for the support of the nearest patrol crew or call 112,” Bunghez said.
Meteorologists have forecast snowfall all over Moldova for the days to come. The air temperature is to drop to -6 Celsius degrees in northern Moldova and will increase to +3 degrees in the southern region during the day.
