Moldovan PM says government takes all necessary measures to ensure free, democratic, transparent electoral process

Chisinau, 13 December /MOLDPRES/ – "The Government of Moldova has taken all necessary measures to ensure a free, transparent, fair electoral process based on all democratic norms". The statement was made by Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, during a meeting with the mission of international experts of the National Democratic Institute (NDI), visiting Moldova, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The PM said that the Government has approved the allocation of the necessary funds to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) to conduct the elections. Also, in order to increase the transparency of the electoral process, it was decided to install the surveillance camps in the polling stations. In order to reduce the margin of interpretation by judges of the results of the ballot, it was canceled the "day of silence", as well as the restriction of electoral agitation within a radius of 100 metres around polling stations.

During the talks, the interlocutors also spoke of the importance of opening a sufficient number of polling stations across Moldova. In order to know where and how many polling stations should be opened, there has been launched online registration of Diaspora citizens procedure.

The PM reconfirmed the opening of the Government for participation of as many local and international observers as possible in the monitoring of the parliamentary elections held on 24 February 2019. Pavel Filip encouraged the experts of NDI to return to Chisinau on an observation mission during the electoral campaign and on election day.
