Meeting of Moldovan – Azeri intergovernmental commission for commercial, economic cooperation takes place in Baku

Chisinau, 13 December /MOLDPRES/ – The meeting of the Moldovan – Azeri intergovernmental commission for commercial – economic cooperation, as well as the bilateral forum of Businessmen, will be organised in the upcoming perspectives in Baku. An agreement in this regard was agreed at the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, with the Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture, co – chairman of the Moldovan – Azeri intergovernmental commission for commercial – economic cooperation, Inam Kerimov, the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.
In the dialogue, the interlocutors reviewed the current state of trade – economic relations between Moldova and Azerbaijan, developments in bilateral cooperation in other areas, noting that at present the maximum potential of collaboration, especially in the infrastructure, the agro – food industry, ecology, energy sector, etc. In the context, Tudor Ulianovschi and Inam Kerimov said that the organisation of the IVth meeting of the Moldovan – Azerbaijani intergovernmental commission for commercial and economic cooperation in the first half of 2019, as well as a bilateral business, would allow the deepening of bilateral dialogue, identification and initiation of new investment or other projects with participation of business environment of Moldova and Azerbaijan.
Minister Tudor Ulianovschi said that after the implementation of a set of reforms to create a favourable climate for foreign investors, especially through free economic zones (ZEL) and industrial and IT parks, Moldovan market has become an attractive one for foreign companies, serving as an example of foreign direct investment in the national economy.
The Interlocutorii approached a number of important topics on the Moldovan – Azerbaijani agenda, implicitly in the agricultural sector. In this context, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi stressed upon the need to increase bilateral trade by promoting more active domestic products on the markets of Moldova and Azerbaijan, noting that Moldova exports nuts, dried fruits and fresh fruits, pumps, pharmaceuticals, etc. to the Azeri market.
Minister Inim Kerimov mentioned the possibility of joint promotion of products from Moldova and Azerbaijan abroad on the markets of third countries.
According to statistical data, there are currently registered 126 Azerbaijan enterprises in Moldova.
