Head of Moldovan diplomacy participates in meeting of OCEMN in Baku

Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/ – Moldova considers that, due to the financial and political assistance provided by the European Union in the wider Black Sea area, the format of interaction between the BSEC and EU has great potential for regional development. The statement was made by the head of Moldovan diplomacy, Tudor Ulianovschi, at the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the member states of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organisation (BSEC), organised under the auspices of the acting presidency of Azerbaijan.

According to the the MAEIE’s information and media communication service, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi, stressed that only by working together and combining the joint efforts of BSEC member states there can be achieved the main objectives set in the agenda of Organisation, including the deepening of the dialogue and the sectoral interaction between BSEC and European Union in the existing format. "In this context, I reiterate the strong commitment of Moldova to pro-active participation in the advancement of economic cooperation in the Black Sea region," said the head of Moldovan diplomacy.

Assessing the work Organisation on trade, IT, tourism and investment attraction, Tudor Ulianovschi appreciated the efforts of Azerbaijan in the context of the implementation of the Presidency's programme during the mandate. "The ICT sector is growing in the region, and the Informal Ministerial Meeting on Information Technologies held in Baku on 04 December has demonstrated the willingness of BSEC member states to develop a common roadmap for this important area of ​​cooperation in the contemporary world. The key areas of agriculture and tourism are special priorities for Moldova and we will support initiatives that will aim to develop a favourable investment climate in the Black Sea region," said Tudor Ulianovschi.

It was also welcomed to take over the presidency by Bulgaria, which aims to provide continuity in achieving common priorities and exploring new opportunities for BSEC member states at regional level.

During the event, the discussions focused on economic and sectoral cooperation, as well as the progress made in the work of the working groups. Also, several topics related to the organisation of the BSEC activity were addressed and the results of the work of the Organisation and the Permanent International Secretariat were examined during 2018.

The Organisation of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) was officially launched by signing the Istanbul Declaration on 25 June 1992. The BSEC was founded by eleven states: Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, creating a regional structure of multilateral cooperation in various sectors, predominantly economic activity.
