Moldova, Qatar sign memorandum of understanding on health

Chisinau, 17 December /MOLDPRES/- Moldova and Qatar signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in health and medical sciences. The document was signed today by Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi and Minister of Public Health of Qatar, Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari in Doha, the MAEIE’s press service has reported.
Ulianovschi noted that the document is an opportunity for both the creation of joint Moldovan-Qatari projects and boosting investments from the State of Qatar in the Republic of Moldova, especially in sectors with potential such as health and medical sciences.
The Memorandum sets out the necessary framework for deepening the relations between the two countries in the respective field, including the exchange of information, the organization of trainings and joint efforts to launch bilateral research programs.
Another goal is related to cooperation on programmes of common interest, especially within the World Health Organisation and UN-affiliated organisations.
Ulianovschi noted the progress made by the State of Qatar in health and its role in achieving global health and welfare goals, including organizing the annual World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) - a world-wide event.
In this context, Al Kuwari has emphasized Qatar’s interest to deepen bilateral relations in health, including by launching projects for children with autism and early detection of cancer. He voiced interest in paying a working visit to Moldova to approach bilateral partnership and cooperation projects with national authorities.
