Two more cases of influenza AH1N1 recorded in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 17 December /MOLDPRES/- Two more cases of influenza AH1N1 were recorded in the capital. Acting head of Social Assistance and Health Directorate Carolina Olaru made the statement today.
Since the beginning of the cold season, nine cases of influenza have been recorded in the Republic of Moldova, six of them in the capital and one case in Balti, Criuleni and Calarasi.
According to data, so far over 4,400 people have been vaccinated against influenza.
At the same time, Olaru said that about 3,000 people in the capital arrived last week in public medical institutions with acute respiratory infections. “The most affected are children up to 4 years of age, with 1090 cases reported. Other 873 cases were reported in children aged 5 to 14 years. Of all patients, 108 were hospitalized,” Olaru said.
Last week, there were 285 cases of infectious diseases and 17 cases of tuberculosis.
Doctors urge people and medical staff to use masks when assisting patients. Doctors' recommendations include washing hands with soap and water, covering mouth and nose with napkins when coughing and sneezing, avoiding crowded places.
