Chisinau, 18 December /MOLDPRES/ – The Government is open to take on the most effective international practices in organising and conducting a fair and transparent electoral process. For this purpose, Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, had a meeting today with Arnis Cimdars, the chairman of the Central Electoral Commission of Latvia, the government's communications and protocol department has reported.

"We are interested in eliminating any vulnerable issue that would later cast doubt on the outcome of the parliamentary elections. We want them to be carried out fairly and transparently," said Pavel Filip.

The parties exchanged views on the measures that may be taken by the authorities for voters to vote on their own beliefs without being influenced by external factors. In particular, the interlocutors discussed measures to protect the info space, including countering false news and political propaganda on social networks.

In the context, the PM said that the Moldovan authorities have already approved a law banning Russian propaganda on TV and radio stations. Also, the internet remains the source of info that needs to be treated with greater caution.

The parties showed interest in organising a meeting of the Central Electoral Commissions of Moldova and Latvia to share the Latvian experience in fortification of state institutions to prevent and combat manipulative info attacks within electoral process.
