Lands on direction of constructing Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline to be switched to state property

Chisinau, 19 December /MOLDPRES/ - More lands on the segment of construction of the gas pipeline on the direction Ungheni-Chisinau will be expropriated and the owners of the assets will receive compensations on behalf of the state. The provision is included in a decision approved by the cabinet today.
Under the document, the expropriated lands are switched to the administration of the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry. The lands are in the districts of Ungheni, Nisporeni, Straseni, Calarasi and Chisinau municipality. In most cases, it is about farmlands.
Under the project, the compensations will be paid with money allocated from the state budget and financial means of Vestmoldtransgaz.
The document was worked out in order to facilitate the construction of the pipeline for the transportation of natural gas on the direction Ungheni-Chisinau and is aimed at strengthening Moldova’s energy security through diversifying the sources of gas supply.
The present decision enters into force on the date of its publication in Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
The pipeline will have a length of 120 km. About 113 million euros is needed to construct the pipeline, of which 92 million euros will be provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank and European Commission.
