Moldovan government approves new measures of backing gifted pupils

Chisinau, 19 December /MOLDPRES/ - Participants in regional and international Olympiads will receive bigger allocations for nourishment on the period of the contest and to buy office articles. The allocation for pupils’ nourishment will increase from 100 to 250 lei per day and the one for office articles will increase up to 400 lei. The cabinet today approved amendments to the regulation on the support of gifted pupils, in order to promote high performances, as well as provide remuneration to teachers involved in preparing exams, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The teachers in charge of the elaboration and verification of works, as well as those carrying out additional activities for training pupils for contests will benefit from increases. Thus, a member of the working group for the elaboration of exams will receive 1,500 lei per month, instead of 984 at present. Teachers will also receive an additional payment of 1,000 lei for the translation of the contest exam from Romanian into another language.
Also, teachers’ remuneration will grow from 25 lei to 120 lei per one hour for activities of backing gifted pupils at camps of training Olympic teams, Sunday schools and centres for distance education. Specialists will be paid also for preparing computers and network infrastructure necessary for holding Olympiads in informatics. Depending on the level of the contest, teachers will receive from 60 to 80 lei per hour. The members of Olympiads’ juries, who have received 25 lei per hour each, will also enjoy increases. Following amendments, they will have 60 lei per one hour in case of republican contests and 80 lei for jurying regional and international competitions.
More than seven million lei is provided for in the state budget for next year for the organization of Olympiads and contests. Twenty one Olympiads and contests are annually held in Moldova, in which more than 3,800 pupils participate.
